Deck Cable Railing Systems by Keuka Studios:

1. Transparent Architecture with Cable Railing

Keuka Studios designed and built a railing system for the “Wood and Glass House” renovation by world-famous architect Kengo Kuma. The home exemplifies the beauty and simplicity of transparent architecture. As the name suggests, the house is almost entirely constructed with wood that matches the natural surroundings or glass. Kuma wanted to extend this transparency to the deck that wraps around the new L-shaped addition. To achieve this, he opted for a railing system with slender posts and cable infill. Our Ithaca Style cable railing fit the bill perfectly. We designed a railing with stainless steel cable infill, powder-coated steel posts, and a slim steel top rail.

2. Industrial Style Cable Railing

This home in Colorado has breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains and a serene lake. It features a spacious deck from which the homeowners can enjoy the vista and peaceful solitude. Furthermore, the home’s luxurious kitchen faces the mountains. Its floor-to-ceiling windows allow for a clear line of sight from anywhere in the room. The architects wanted to ensure that the deck’s railing wouldn’t interfere with the views from within the home. In other words, they needed a safe barrier for the deck with unimposing features and minimal hardware. To fit their needs, Keuka Studios designed a Chicago Style cable railing system. This railing style features unique posts with cutouts that match the home’s industrial style. The railing’s thin stainless steel cable infills and flat top rail allow for optimal views. As a result, you can see the mountains from both the deck and the home interior.

3. Cable Railing Deck with Ocean View

With incredible views of the ocean, this Hawaiian residence is the epitome of luxury island living. Taking advantage of Hawaii’s warm climate, the home embraces transitional indoor-outdoor living spaces. For example, the living room has sliding doors that completely open up the side of the room that faces the water. The doors lead out to a sizable deck with a dining table, grill, and multiple lounge areas. Our team designed a custom deck cable railing system for the home. The railing seamlessly blends with the home’s tropical modern design scheme. For example, the thick wood top rail with a rectangular profile matches the exposed beams on the deck. The black powder-coated aluminum posts complement the black window and door frames. As a result, the deck and home interior have a cohesive design. In turn, the railing helps create a smooth transition from the home interior to the outdoor living space.

4. Cable Railing for Rooftop Deck

The designers of this Martha’s Vineyard home wanted to create the perfect outdoor living space. To maximize the size of the space and to provide the best possible views, the architects designed a rooftop deck. The deck features lounge areas, an outdoor kitchen, and access to a raised green roof. Our team designed and built an Ithaca Style cable railing system to enclose the deck. We fabricated the railing with solid aluminum posts and a matching top rail. All of the aluminum has a “Gamblers Gun Grey” powder coat that matches the decking and gives the railing a muted, understated appearance. The minimalist deck cable railing system contributes to the home’s modern aesthetic and helps to preserve the ocean views.

5. Contemporary Cabin Deck Cable Railing

Our clients in Liberty Lake, Washington own a contemporary log cabin with a deck that sits on fieldstone columns. The homeowners wanted a cable railing system for the deck, and to meet their specific needs we designed a modified version of our Keuka Style cable railing. We crafted the railing posts with our signature curved design but left enough space at the bottom so the posts could wrap around the deck’s drainage system. Also, we extended the railing to provide a barrier for the short staircase that leads from the deck to the ground. To match the home’s rustic aesthetic, we designed the railing system with a wood top rail and black powder-coated steel posts.

6. Curved Cable Railings and Mountain Views

Nestled in the mountains this home has dramatic views from every window. Cable railings were chosen for the deck of this contemporary home to preserve the beautiful views. The architect firm Kelly and Stone chose our Keuka Style cable railing for its gracious curving lines that complement the architectural style with curved roof lines. The railing is fascia mounted to give the deck a clean uninterrupted appearance. The railing was custom designed with a 6-inch wide top rail and powder-coated black to match the home’s steel beams.

7. Aluminum Cable Railing Beach House

Perello Design Build created this modern beach house in the Hamptons, NY. They chose our Ithaca Style cable railing system to wrap their expansive deck since the sleek design perfectly complements the simplistic lines of the home. The design of the home includes floor-to-ceiling window walls with an expansive deck and patios to promote an easy flow for indoor-outdoor living. The railing posts are made of solid aluminum and powder-coated matte black and are designed to be surface mounted to the deck and stairs.
