Description: Keuka Studios Kauai Style cable railing.
Kelly and Stone architect’s approach to architecture is stylistically diverse and guided by sustainability. In addition, they prioritize creating buildings that harmonize with each site. When they were looking for a unique approach for the cable railing system for this project in Kauai they realized we could help them realize their vision. We created a unique cable railing system with slender intermediate posts and double-bar end posts with brushed stainless steel spacers in-between the parallel posts. The railing posts are fascia mounted to the deck and entrance bridge.
They chose cable railings to embrace the landscape, and to create seamless indoor-outdoor living while maintaining the dramatic ocean views from every room. The home has a Hawaiian mid-century modern look and traditional Hawaiian touches including hip roofs, deep overhangs, and vertical siding. The resulting ambiance of the home is laid back with a luxurious feel. Following the tradition of naming homes in Hawaii, this home is named Hale Ike Mala (Love of the Garden) for its view of the orchards.
Exterior Railing – To achieve the desired look our team designed and fabricated the cable railing system to wrap the decks and entrance bridge at a 42-inch height with 3/16 inch cable. The posts are made of solid aluminum and the cables are 316 ss. The dining room, bedrooms, and living space have expansive doors that open up to the decks expanding the living space outdoors and opening up to the views of the gardens and ocean. Cables have a way of disappearing from the eye allowing the views to seem unobstructed.
Interior Stair –Black cables were chosen for an open floating staircase on the interior of the home.
