Research Forest Lakeside in The Woodlands, TX is a 10-building mixed-use lakeside development set on 77 wooded acres. The campus overlooks Lake Woodlands, creating a natural oasis conveniently located near many of The Woodlands’ amenities. With four retail buildings, five office buildings and additional future development, this campus attracts a variety of people. A sparkle silver powder coated cable railing was the perfect complement to the Ipe deck in place on the campus.
The Research Forest Lakeside’s deck is set directly on the lake, creating an attractive and relaxing commercial environment. The deck provides outdoor seating for lunch, meetings and other gatherings. The cable railing allows the cool lake breeze to blow through the entire area without blocking any of it, which is especially important during hot Texas summers. The 42-inch high cable railing added a clean and modern look to the outside deck area and complemented the lake’s natural beauty. Cable railing was an excellent choice to create a safe barrier between the deck and the water without blocking the view. The modern appearance also matches well with the buildings on the Research Forest Lakeside campus, which has a striking exterior design and a focus on clean lines inside. Taking advantage of the natural beauty of the campus also fell in line with Research Forest Lakeside’s green practices, as the campus is LEED certified.
The powder coated sparkle silver steel posts blend in with the dark water behind it. It acts as an accent to the natural environment instead of pulling attention away from the lake. The 3/16th-inch diameter stainless steel cable has fittings in the interior of the post for a clean and polished look. The cable railing is topped with Ipe Brazilian walnut wood. This hardwood ages gray naturally to add to the overall modern appeal. It’s also well suited for a lakeside railing application, as this wood has high durability, contains natural oils making it resistant to mildew, and lasts at least 25 years.
