Material and Finish: "Dazzling Pewter" powder-coated steel posts with wood top rail. The cables and fittings are made of 316 stainless steel. The wood top rail curves along the serpentine shape of the railing.
Description: Keuka Style curved commercial cable railing made for a curving office mezzanine. The railing posts are fascia mounted on the wood cladding creating both warmth and contrast. The top railing is made of wood and matches the color of the wood cladding below.
McDonald & Monterose Architects, a respected architectural firm based in New Hartford, New York, approached Keuka Studios to design a custom cable railing system for a curved office mezzanine in a modern commercial building in Syracuse, New York. The design team sought a railing solution that would be fascia-mounted and complement the building’s contemporary aesthetic, while maintaining an open, light-filled atmosphere.
After reviewing our portfolio, the architects were drawn to our curved Keuka Style commercial cable railing, known for its sleek and sculptural form. The design’s ability to follow a gentle arc of the mezzanine perfectly suited the project’s architectural vision. The railing not only enhances safety but also provides an elegant visual flow that mirrors the curvature of the balcony and surrounding architectural elements.
To bring a sense of warmth and natural texture to the expansive lobby, McDonald and Monerose incorporated wood cladding along the edge of the mezzanine structure. To complement this detail, we powder-coated the railing posts “Dazzling Pewter” and paired it with a solid wood top rail, creating a refined and organic aesthetic.
Because this is a commercial location, the railing system was engineered to meet commercial building code requirements, with a 42-inch overall height and 3/16-inch diameter stainless steel cables designed to both ensure durability and safety while maintaining an open, streamlined appearance.
